TIGER CUBS
Times: 1 hour, 1 - 3 times/week

Ages: 9 and under (novice swimmers)

The
Tiger Cubs group is designed as the first level of competitive training
for TAQ. Emphasis is on teaching the fundamentals of
the strokes through drills, games, and other activities.
Practice is offered five times per week with a recommended
maximum attendance of three one hour sessions per week.
Progression from the Tiger Cubs group is based on physical
skills, ability to pay attention and recommendation by the
Tiger Cubs Group coaching staff and the Head Age Group Coach.

TIGERS

The
Tigers group is the third
level of competitive training for TAQ. At this level, aerobic
training is introduced through distance freestyle and IM based sets, a
focus on maintaining & developing proper technique, developing long term
vs. short term goal setting techniques, and nutritional awareness.
A seasonal training mentality will be introduced which will prepare
athletes to succeed through all levels of swimming. All swimmers
will learn the discipline & dedication needed to "train" through
soreness & fatigue in mid-season in order to peak at the end of season
championship meets, as dictated by the coaching staff.

JR. TIGERS
Times: 1.5 hours, 3 - 4 times/week
year round
Ages: 8 - 13
Coach: Assistant Coach Jeannine Malbrough
The
Jr. Tigers group is the second level of competitive training for TAQ. Stroke technique is emphasized, and aerobic training
sets are introduced. Swimmers learn to use the pace clock
and develop a long term training vision. This group is
designed to produce swimmers that are eager and ready for the
challenges of the next level. Swimmers are encouraged to
train three to four times per week, although five practices are
offered. Practices last one hour and thirty minutes.
Progression from the Jr. Tigers group to the next level is based
solely on the coach's recommendation.

SENIOR
Times:
2 hours, 5 - 8 times/week year round
Ages: 13 - 18

The
Senior Group is the fourth level of competitive training for TAQ.
The senior group swimmers are expected to attend 5 to 8 practices a
week. This group is for swimmers who are committed to taking their
swimming skills to the highest level that they can achieve. Senior
training consists of continued refinement of strokes and technique with
advanced drills and skill work. There is a large component of dry
land strength/conditioning and in the pool, workouts can exceed 10,000
yards.
