Tiger Aquatics Coaching Staff

Tiger Aquatics has always strived to provide the best coaches for each group of swimmers and divers.  We maintain a full time head coaching staff of three swimming and one diving coach.  Part time coaches are hired to work under our full time head coaches for each particular swimming and diving group.

 

David Geyer BioHead Coach Dave Geyer

Coach Dave is responsible for the overall coaching of Tiger Aquatics and directly coaches the Senior I group.

 

Geyer has five years of coaching experience on the collegiate and club levels.  The Pittsburgh, Pa., native served as an assistant coach at Mecklenburg Aquatic Club from 2002-05.  While at MAC in Charlotte, NC, he earned valuable experience under previous LSU associate head coach Morgan Bailey.  Before his three-year stint at Mecklenburg, Geyer was as an assistant at his alma mater of Shippensburg University from 1999-2001.  He helped train all levels of athletes from developmental to national.  A talented athlete himself, Geyer was a four-time All-American in relays at Shippensburg.  He graduated from Shippensburg with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1999 before receiving his master's degree in counseling in 2001.  Geyer's leadership skills did not go unnoticed as he received the Rick Marlin Scholarship Award, while serving as a team captain.  Read more about Dave here.

Matt Leach BioHead Age Group Coach Matt Leach

Coach Matt oversees the Age Group program and coaches the TIGER and High School / Middle School Groups. 

Matthew was heavily recruited out of high school after producing All-America seasons at Westview High School.  Matthew proved his experience in the pool as a swimmer at Indiana University.  During his collegiate career he became a five-time All-American and helped the Hoosiers to a Big 10 Conference Championship in the 200 Medley Relay as a senior.  After his eligibility was up he began coaching for Indiana University as a volunteer assistant coach.  Leach graduated from Indiana in December 2004 after earning a bachelor's degree in Environmental Management.  He is currently working toward his masters degree in Environmental Studies at LSU.

Matthew was the Head Coach at the University Club in Baton Rouge in 2005 and 2006 and was named Louisiana Age Group Coach of the Year in 2007.  Matthew comes from a swimming family.  His father Gary Leach has been coaching for 32 years and is currently at Multnomah Athletic Club (MAC).  His brother Jadam Leach also swam and began coaching at Westview High School in Portland, OR.  Read more about Matt here.

Assistant Coach Jeannine Malbrough

Jeannine coaches the JR. TIGER group and heads up the Masters group as well.

 

Jeannine was a 2 year varsity letterman on the LSU Swimming and Diving team and an interior design major.  She is a breaststroker and individual medalist.  Jeannine is from Metairie, Louisiana and coaches the Pre-Competition group and assists other groups as needed.  Read more about Jeannine here.

 

Assistant Coach Laurie Dickinson

Laurie coaches the Tiger Cubs 1 & 2 group at the Nat and is also a Swim School instructor.

 

Head Diving Coach Jeff Reinholtz

Coach Jeff conducts the diving instruction at the Natatorium.

 

Jeff is originally from Edmond, Oklahoma.  He graduated from Louisiana State University in 1991 and was a contributing member of the LSU Swimming and Diving Team.  Jeff was an NCAA All-American in 1986 through 1990.  1988: 1-meter Springboard; 1990: 1-meter and 3-meter Springboard, 10-meter Platform.  He was on the All-SEC Team 1988 through 1990.  Jeff was also the SEC 1-meter Springboard Champion in 1988 and 1990.  He is married to Rana (Guerin) since 1993 and has 3 children: Jordan Elizabeth, 10; Jacob Scott, 9 and Matthew James, 4.
