The swim season is going to be in full swing!  Please put down on your calendars some important dates not only for your athlete(s) but for the whole family too!

Today:  Team Photos are in for those families that ordered and paid.  Please pick them up in your athlete’s folder.

Today until January 15^th, 2009:  Calling ALL Mardi Gras Beads!! If you have any Mardi Gras Beads please bring them by the pool!  TAQ uses them for our Mardi Gras Meet.  Please drop them off by the purple table.

Monday November 24^th, 2008: Will be the last day to sign up for the TAQ Christmas Meet!  All ages and groups are more then welcome to participate (25s for the young ones!)  Please sign up in the Meet Sign-up Binder by the team folders.

TAQ will be having a Halloween Party from 5:30-6:30pm on Thursday Oct. 30th.

All groups will start practice at their normal time but at 5:30pm we will begin the festivities!  Please wear your costumes and be ready to get into the water for some fun activities!
 

The Tiger Aquatic Banquet has been rescheduled for Sunday October 19th!  The festivities will be held at the "Casa De" Landry's.  The Banquet will start at 3:00pm.

Group Parent Meetings will begin October 6th through the 8th.  Each Coach will run a parent meeting going over the goals for the season and meet schedules.  This will be a great opportunity for each parent to ask any questions they might have about TAQ, TAQ's Meet Schedule, moving up from one group to the next, goals of each group or about year round swimming.  If you have any questions please contact Coach Matt at agecoach@swimtaq.com.  

Paws: Mon/Wed Group will meet on Monday Oct. 6th at 6:45pm. Tue/Thu Group will meet on Tuesday Oct. 7th at 6:45pm.

Cubs: The Cubs Group Parent meeting will be Monday Oct. 6th at 6:00pm.

Junior Tigers: The Junior Tiger Parents will meet Wednesday Oct. 8th at 6:30pm.

Middle School: Coach Ashley will be handing out some informative packets about USA Swimming and year round swimming during the week.  If you have any questions please speak with her or Coach Matt before or after practice.

Tigers: The Tiger Parents will meet Wednesday Oct. 8th from 6:15-6:45pm.

Pre-Senior: Pre-Senior Parents please come by Wednesday Oct. 8th from 4:30-5:00pm.

Senior: Senior Parents please come by the pool for a quick parent meeting at 6:00pm on Wednesday Oct. 8th.

Tiger Aquatics would like to announce that we will be having group photos taken on October 15th, 2008.  Each group will have their picture taken at the beginning of their practice.  Please bring your NEW TAQ T-SHIRTS.  The photos will be 5 X 7 size and will be $8.  Please make checks payable to TAQ.  If you have any questions regarding the team photos please email office@swimtaq.com.

Thursday Practice

The pool will still be under repairs on Thursday, we will continue the same schedule.  The Pre-Senior and Senior groups will swim at Ketcham from 7:30pm until 9:00pm.  All other groups (Paws, Cubs, Middle School, Junior Tigers, and Tigers) will have dryland out in front of the LSU Natatorium from 5:00pm-6:00pm. Please bring your shoes, shorts, t-shirt and a water bottle.

Friday Practice

WE WILL BE IN THE LSU NATATORIUM!! ALL GROUPS!!! Please bring your normal swimming attire for practice. PAWS WILL HAVE PRACTICE AS WELL FROM 6:00-6:45pm!

Cubs 5:00-6:00pm, Junior Tigers 5:00-6:30pm, Middle School 5:30-6:45pm, Tigers 5:30-7:30pm, Pre-Senior 4:00-5:30pm, Senior 4:00-6:00pm, Masters 4:00-7:30pm

The Annual TAQ Banquet had to be postponed due to damage to the Bocage roof.  We are currently trying to reschedule. Please stay tuned for more updates.

Saturday Practice

Tiger Aquatics Families,

I hope all families are safe and returning to normalcy after the most recent storm to hit the Gulf region. While our thoughts and prayers go out to all families that are effected by Gustav, I did want to send an update out regarding Tiger Aquatics and the Natatorium.

As shown on the news, the LSU Natatorium has taken on damage from the storm. There is about a 12 foot section that extends the entire width of the pool where the roof is missing. This section is located on the diving well side. There was also a broken window and considerable dirt and debris that had blown down from rafters and landed inside the pool. Obviously with that damage the pool remains closed. That's the bad news.

The good news is that LSU, Facility Services, and the Athletic Department are very aware of the damage and are moving quickly upon it. There does not seem to be any damage done to the pump or filtration system. There was a roofing company examining the damage to the structure and members of facility services did contact the coaches regarding damage and inspected the Natatorium themselves.

At this time, we do not have a timeline of when the pool will re-open not only for Tiger Aquatics but also for the LSU Swimming and Diving Family.

At this time we have decided to hold practice in the form of dry land activities.  Normal practice times will be in effect but all athletes must come prepared for dry land exercises - shorts, t-shirt, tennis shoes, etc.
